Football rolls in opener

The first game of Eric Hennessy’s Newington career was the stuff coaches dream of.

The Indians held Fitch without a point on the road in a 38-0 victory in Groton Friday night.

Jake Hedberg threw for four touchdowns for the Indians in a dominant performance on both sides of the ball.

“We were so good on defense it allowed us to do more things on offense,” Hennessy said. “Keeping them out of the end zone was huge. It gave us a lot of freedom.”

Newington’s defense recorded four interceptions in the impressive win.
